Instructions for the authors
The material sent for publication in the PNEUMOLOGIA magazine will be included in one of the reviews sections (original papers, general papers, clinical cases, In the aid of the practitioner, Pediatric pneumologi problems etc). The target theme can be: pneumophthysiology, thoracic surgery, oncology, alergology, pediatric pneumology, intensive care, rehabilitation, bacteriology, pathophysiology, cellular or molecular biology, thoracic imaging.
The manuscripts will be accompanied by a letter of introduction, containing the following information:
• A complete declaration, adressed to the editor, mentioning whether or not the manuscript had been sent earlier to other publications, or any reports that can be considered duplicate publications of a similar or identical manuscripts. It is mandatory to specify the bibliografic references and to include them in the new article. The work will be accompanied by copies of the material indicated as bibliografy, to help the editor decide how to interpret the problem.
• A declaration concerning the financial implication or other relations that can generate conflicts of interest, if the information is not mentioned in the manuscript or in the authors coordinates. The conflict of interests declaration is found on the reviews site, from where it can be copied, filled in and attached to the letter of introduction.
• A declaration that confirms that the manuscript was read and approved by all the authors and that all authors rights demands have been met.
• The contact details (e-mail, phone number, postal address, fax) of the author that will be contactable by the editorial board for revising and aprooving the final form of the manuscript.
Technical details
All materials will be sent in an electronic format. The text will be written as a Word document, with Times New Roman characters, size 12, space 2 between lines. The pages will be numbered. All abreviations will be explained at the first appearance in the text.
Tables will be written on separate pages; they will be numbered, and the number of the table will be quoted in the text. Tables must have a title. The format of the table must be simple, without vertical lines. Abreviations will be explained under the table.
Figures will be sent as separate documents, smaller than 1 MB. Figures will be numbered and quoted in the text, and will have a legend. Images will have a 300 dpi resolution, in jpeg, gif or tiff format.
Structure of the material
Articles sent for publication must contain:
- Title page, with the following information:
•- article title
•- name of the authors
•- institutes and departaments to which the authors belong
•- the author responsable for corespondance: name, postal address, phone number, e-mail, fax
•- financial source (if necesary).
- Abstracts. The abstract in Romanian is about 250 words and must reflect the content of the article as well as possible. For original works, the abstract must include the most relevant results and the main conclusions. The abstract is mandatory for general reviews as well. In the end, a maximum of 6 key words can be written.
The abstract in English will be accompanied by the title in English and the key words. Because this is indexed in an electronic abstracts data base (PubMed), it will have to be carefully written, reflecting the content and relevance of the article, but also being ortografically and lingvistically correct.
- The article text will have a structure adapted to the material type.
Original works must include: an introduction, objectives, materials and method (refering to the selection of participants, inclusion and exclusion criteria, technical information, statistical method used for the calculation of the data), results, discussions and conclusions.
Clinical cases must contain an introduction, the presentation of the case, discussions. The size of the texts (including the bibliography) will not exceed: 15 pages written for a general review, 12 pages for an original research, 6 pages for a case presentation, 11/2 pages for a review.
- Bibliographical references will be numbered in order of appearance in the text and will be quoted in the text. References are written as follows:
• Entire books: Authors/editors, with last name and first name initial (without a period). Title, Edition (if applicable). Place of publication: Publishing house. Year of appearance.
Example: Iagaru N. Pediatric Reumatology. Bucharest: Amaltea Medical Publishing house, 2003.
• Chapters of the book, signed by distinct authors: Author of the chapter, with last name, initial of the first name (without period); The chapter title; the word "In:" followed by the authors or editors of the volume. Then the Title of the volume with italic characters, the Edition (if applicable); Place of publishing: Publishing house, Year of appearance, followed by two points; pages containing the chapter.
Example: Bolosiu HD, Man L, Rednic S. The effect of methylprednisolone pulse therapy in polymyositis/dermatomyositis. In: Mallia C, Uitto J Current Issues in Rheumatology and Dermatology. New York: Kulver Academic and Plenum Press, 1999:349-358
• Articles: Authors, with last name and the initial of the first name, without period (only the first three, followed by "etc", in case there are more than four). The article title. The title of the review in international abbreviation, in italics. The year, followed by a period and coma. Volume, followed by two periods: Pages containing the article.
Note: If the quoted article is published in the abstract (ex. magazine, abstract volume of some scientific manifestations), the indication of the source will be preceded by "Rez in:" or "Abstr in:"
Example: Lems WF, Ader HJ, Lodder MC etc. Reproductibility of bone mineral density measurements in daily practice. Ann Rheum Dis 2004;63:285-289.
Articles can be send by mail at the address of the review in paper format, in double copies, accompanied by the electronic support format (CD-ROM).
Articles can pe send by e-mail to pneumologia@pneumologia.eu, as attatched files. In this case, the introduction letter addressed to the editorial staff, signed by the authors, will be sent by mail or fax.
The author responsible for correpondance will be informed via e-mail concerning the acceptance of the article by the editorial board, with all the necesary revisions and, finally, with the acceptance or not of the article for publication.
All articles are analized peer-review by 2 independent referrents, selected by the editorial board. The identity of the referrents will not be revealed to the authors.
